Oooh so this is why they siesta.

Bon dia! We are in Girona, Spain, and finally getting some sun. Woohoo! It´s really warm out, and a lot of shops close during the afternoon. They´re probably all taking a siesta!

Disclaimer: this blog post will be photo-less. Sorry! (Maybe later)

Day 15

We took the train from Paris to Toulouse. We were sharing a train compartment with a bunch of 8-9 year old French kids. They spent the first few minutes of the trip chanting, "Aur revoir, Paris! Aur revoir, Paris!" as we pulled out of the station. And then the next few minutes chanting "Bon apetit! Bon apetit!" because it was lunch time. We also always heard this kid Jeremy "Jeghemee" being yelled at. He must have been the bully. We ate dinner on the train: baguette with blue cheese and chorizo. How French we´ve become. We got to our host, Philippe´s place and then took an evening walk by the river and around town because it was so nice out. Oh, and Philippe had a beautiful apartment.

Day 16

We had a pretty lazy morning, and then walked around town some more before we took off for the station and headed to Girona!!! I "slept" from Toulouse to Narbonne because two guys were sitting facing us (intsead of facing the back of the chairs), and I didn´t know where else to look. The train from Narbonne to Girona was delayed by an hour. When we crossed the border, the police came on the train to check our passports, but they didn´t even check them! Ugh, I wanted a Spain immigration stamp on my passport, damn it!

We had dinner at a pretty nice place, and had some really good tapas, all for under 20 Euros! The hostel we spent the night at was really nice, except for the fact that the lights would turn off every 5 minutes while we were showering and every time, Claire had to step outside and wave to turn on the light. We shared the room with 4 other people. One was from NY (like Claire), one was from Oregon (like me!) and then another one from the US and one from Australia.

Day 17

Free breakfast! What better way to start a day! We did some preparation for our hiking trip, which starts tomorrow!!!! And then walked along Les torres del passie de la Muralla, which is the wall that surrounds Girona. We got some great views of the town from the towers along the wall! And then we visited the cathedral, which was really impressive. Lots of gothic architecutre, and lots of tombs of bishops imbedded in the walls, and a little bit creepy. But it was really impressive! If you ask me, it was much better than seeing the Notre Dame of Paris.

Phew! That was a long post! Till next time, ciao!
